He hasn’t been seen for a few weeks and he never leaves Mooroolbark. But no one knows where Monty lives. The children of Mooroolbark must find him, because Monty’s birthday is coming and the party must be organised.

What does he look like and how will we find him?

Monty has two special friends in Mooroolbark, they are four years old too and they’re names are Alice and Jed.

Each day Alice and Jed would go to the park to play, except for the days that they went to Kinder. Each time they went to the park they would see their friend Monty, hiding in the tree. He was always shy at first, but Alice and Jed were kind and friendly so after a short time he would always come down to play.

But Alice and Jed had not seen Monty for weeks either, and they were very worried. “Where could he be?” Alice asked.

Jed did not know. “How can we have his birthday and give him his presents if we can’t find him?” he said.

Alice sat down to think. “Well, we’ve checked the park and his favourite tree. We have to keep looking and check all of Mooroolbark,” she said.

Jed sat down beside Alice and they were both thinking. She knew Jed was right, they had to check everywhere. But not by themselves. “We need to get help Jed. We can’t check all of Mooroolbark by ourselves. We must ask everyone to help look for Monty,” said Alice.

Excitedly, Jed stood up. “We could ask all the children from Kinder. Then we would have plenty of people looking for Monty. We would surely find him,” Jed said.

“Great idea Jed,” said Alice. “Grab the map and binoculars, we must start now.”

So with the help of all the children from Kinder the search then started. But how long would it take to find Monty, and will he be okay?
